In-house or outsourced?
Outsource while a full-time finance hire would not be fully occupied, or where you need technical depth more than daily presence. Bring it in-house when transaction volume genuinely fills a role, or when finance needs to sit inside daily operations.

The true cost of a hire
Salary is the visible part. The full cost includes visa and permit fees, medical insurance, end-of-service gratuity accruing from day one, annual leave and air tickets where the contract provides them, recruitment, software licences, and the management time to supervise someone whose work you may not be able to review technically. It also includes key-person risk: one resignation and the ledger's institutional knowledge walks out.
What outsourcing buys and what it costs
| In-house | Outsourced | |
|---|---|---|
| Presence | Daily, embedded in operations | Scheduled — good for cycles, less good for ad hoc |
| Technical depth | Limited to that person | A team, with tax and reporting specialists behind it |
| Cost profile | Fixed, with on-costs | Defined scope, fixed monthly fee |
| Continuity | Key-person risk | Covered by the firm |
| Independence | Reports to the person being reported on | External review is itself a control |
The hybrid most growing businesses land on
An in-house bookkeeper or finance assistant handling day-to-day processing, invoicing and payment runs, with an external firm doing the monthly close, statutory reporting, tax and technical judgements. It gives you daily responsiveness and a second set of eyes — and the external close doubles as a control against error and override, which a purely in-house function structurally cannot provide.

In-House vs Outsourced Accounting UAE — frequently asked questions
When the volume genuinely occupies a full-time person, when finance needs to be embedded in daily operations — approving purchase orders, managing credit control on the floor, working alongside operations — or when confidentiality or speed of internal reporting makes an external cycle too slow. Below that point, a full-time hire is usually paying a salary for part-time work while getting narrower technical coverage.
It should be, and the questions to ask are concrete: where is the data hosted, who has access, how is it segregated from other clients, what happens to your records if the relationship ends, and can you export everything at any time. Cloud accounting platforms mean you own and control the ledger — the firm works in your system rather than holding your data in theirs, which is the arrangement to insist on.
